My Passion

I’m not sure when it started, but since I can remember I’ve wanted to go to Africa. And not only go to Africa but change lives and make a difference by serving those less fortunate. My dream came true the summer between my freshman and sophomore year of college. And as a result of that trip to Ghana, my heart has never been the same!

Since that adventure, I’ve traveled to Nicaragua, Mexico and Haiti, where the passion only grew stronger. The feeling of looking into a child’s eyes who you’ve never met and wanting to make a difference and love them - stays with you forever. Seeing their happy faces and having them put their hand in yours, is something you never forget. Yet on each trip when I met these children and related to the young adults my age, I felt that a week of time wasn’t enough. I wanted to invest something more and make a lasting impact on their lives – more than a week of time would allow.

Thus, the reason for this blog. With this blog I hope to allow myself and others to make a lasting impact - to donate to and highlight organizations and people with whom we can partner with for the long term. I'd love to write to Mavis for years, to see organizations like Mission of Hope develop, to meet children with special needs and watch them grow up. I'm passionate about making a difference and developing these relationships. My hope and prayer is that this blog will be an avenue to do just that. Please join me by celebrating/highlighting others and becoming passionate about making a lasting impact ourselves!
